I did this trip in a car once and wouldn't trade it the for the world; should be great on a m/c. Assuming you make it this far, I might be the last Savage owner you'll find before you hit the Pacific Ocean...I live about 5 miles from it (Ventura-50 miles NW of L.A./I-10). Being from Florida myself (Miami), I have to ask...have you done any riding in the mountains? I can tell you from first hand experience, that it's a LOT different than where I learned to ride in FL; I'm just now getting the hang of it. There are some hugh mountain ranges you'll have to cross. If you're not accustomed to them, you might want to consider taking a week-end jaunt up to the Smokies to practice.
